Details on upcoming Atlanta Science Festival event
We’d like to give a somewhat brief update on GAP’s development of an ASF event to be held in a couple months. The details are in the works, but the framework has been laid and the event looks very promising!
What: Science of Beer event during the 2016 Atlanta Science Festival
Where: SweetWater Brewery
When: Evening of Wednesday, March 23rd
How much: $18 (includes beer and beaker)
Have you ever wondered how so much delicious flavor finds its way into a bottle of beer? Join the Georgia Tech School of Physics and SweetWater Brewery for an evening with scientists and brewmasters as we investigate the science of fermentation. Explore interactive home brewing demonstrations and take a guided tour of the SweetWater brewery. Attendees will enjoy all of their favorite SweetWater beverages in a keepsake Atlanta Science Festival Science beaker/pint glass. Space is limited so reserve your tickets now!
Our panel discussion will consist of short (think attention span at a brewery short) presentations by our panel members about some of the chemical processes that are carefully manipulated to produce the beverages we enjoy. This will be intertwined with an open discussion with the audience.
We have locked down three of our four speakers so far, with a fourth confirmation expected in the near future:
Dr. Will Radcliffe from Dept. of Chem. at GT
Dr. Kevin Bucholtz from Dept. of Chem. at Mercer Univ.
Brewmaster at SweetWater Brewery
Homebrewing expert (hopeful)
This event is shaping up to be very exciting! Did we mention the keepsake special edition ASF/GAP/SweetWater etched 500mL beaker for beer drinking?
Anyone interested in getting involved in the planning stages or interested in volunteering at the event is encouraged to contact any of the GAP officers with their comments or questions.
We hope we’ll see you all there!
