Step into STEM Demos

We hosted a table, where we got to teach kids about physics through hands-on demos. It was awesome to see them understand the concepts and get excited about learning more. If you’re a current grad student and are interested in getting more involved, please get in touch with us through the “Contact Us” page!

Want to do some cool magnet demos at home? Here is a document with all of the demos we showed during Step into STEM. They include a list of materials, instructions to get the demo started, and a description of why the demo works.

Our next event is at Junior STEM on February 24th from 9:30am-12pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Outreach Chair (Zachary)!

If something doesn’t work right away, experiment with different angles, shapes, and configurations. Usually, a wire needs to be straighter, or a magnet or a wire needs to have better contact with the battery. Good luck!
